For the first time, an endless optical polarization tracking speed of 100 krad/s has been demonstrated. With polarization changes up to this speed, a polarization trajectory of 18 Gigaradian length on the Poincaré sphere was tracked within 64 hours. Mean and maximum polarization errors were 0.096 rad and 0.220 rad, respectively.

The results were reported at 12th ITG-Fachtagung "Photonische Netze", May 2nd and 3rd in Leipzig, Germany.


At this meeting Novoptel presented an EPS1000 Endless Polarization Scrambler and an EPC1000 Endless Polarization Controller with a tracking speed of 100 krad/s to the professional public.
